Mentoring & Sharing the Journey
The late L.A. based photographer John Free, encouraged me to strike out and share not only my photography (and hence the creation of this website) but the knowledge I’ve gained from a lifetime behind the lens. He gave me the confidence and recognision I needed to advance not just my photography, but its teachings.
When I originaly reached out to John as a complete stranger, he was generous enough to respond to me with kindness, positivity, and guidance. John had a deep and tremendous influence on my photography, he was the missing piece of the jigsaw that I needed to further my photography journey. I owe John a lot, and now I’d like to pass on that same spirit of generosity to other film photographers.
With over 40 years of experience working with 35mm and medium format film cameras, through study, professional practice, and countless hours of personal exploration, I’m offering online mentorship for film photographers at any stage of their journey. Whether you’re just starting out or returning to film after a digital detour, I’m happy to help however I can.
Please note that I am no ‘know it all’ or a master of film photograohy, but I am disclipined, committed to my style of photography, and passionate. I am not telling anyone ‘to do what I do’, but I am happy to share what I feel works for me, and pass on some of my knowledge to help others.
I’m also always glad to meet up with people locally here on Anglesey to chat about all things photography: vision, history, or just the joy of making images. If you’re interested, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the contacts page.
This is my way of giving back to photography, to help film photography, and to the people who’ve inspired me along the way - including John. So wherever you are John - ‘diolch o galon’
