Fields of Isolation

Fields of Isolation is a two-year documentary project exploring the emotional and social challenges faced by farmers across North Wales. Through portraiture, landscape photography, and shared testimony, the project aims to shed light on the hidden pressures of rural life — including loneliness and the impact of political and economic change. The project takes a slow and sensitive approach, rooted in lived experience. It seeks to give voice to those who feed the nation, honoring their resilience, dignity, and stories.

Approximately 82% of Wales is classified as rural. The links between farming, rurality and the Welsh Language are clear and evident to see.
